The Artist
I began experimenting with art as a teenager. The influences of my New York City upbringing - the pop culture, street art, film, and iconography - fueled my curiosity about bold color and self-expression. It was around then too that I became fixated with how the intoxicating combination of pop culture, art, and business can come to life in advertising. There was something about the ability to solve commercial challenges and at the same time create cultural icons, out of everyday brands, that fascinated me. I realized that the fusion of these dynamics would be the inspiration for my work- little did I know at that time it would also lead to a career!
I’m self-taught as an artist. I incorporate different mediums- oil pastels, acrylics, markers, and even house paint - with spray paint and old print advertising. I guess you can consider my two passions for spray paint and advertising the unforeseen roots of what I do today.
What I love most about my artistic journey is how various aspects of my creative process have worked their way into my marketing career. Unexpected juxtapositions. Break-out, boundary-crossing answers. Stripping back and distilling to what counts most. Connecting, persuading, and inspiring teams across various levels and functions. And being inspired in turn. Creating disruptive strategies and experiences that engage audiences, building brands, growing business. These are all things that have enabled me to become a better leader, a better partner, and drive bigger business transformation. It has allowed me to make a cultural impact on the businesses I touch and how they affect millions of people every day.
